Every sentence has a source

Manthan searches the public web, ranks what it finds, and shows you what the sources actually say. It quotes them; it does not write answers of its own.

That is a deliberate limit, and it is the point. A system that writes original prose can also invent things that sound right and are not true. Manthan cannot, because every line it shows is copied from a page you can open and check yourself.

What it does well

• Look something up, and explain what it is
• Compare two things, using what each source says about them
• Find the steps in a guide, in the order the author wrote them
• Check a resume against a job description, and name the gaps honestly
• Tell you when sources disagree, instead of quietly picking one

What it will not do

• Write an essay, an email, a poem or code
• Give you a personal recommendation — no source can answer "should I" for you
• Answer from "knowledge" when the web has nothing. It will say so instead

Reading an answer

Every claim carries a [n] pointing at the source it came from. A ++ means a different source says the same thing — the strongest signal available that something is right. The confidence chip reports how well the evidence holds up, and a note in the margin is Manthan speaking about the evidence, never about the subject.
